Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce

Ingredients

1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup minced garlic
2 large onions, minced
1 cup red wine
3 Tbsp Italian seasoning
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
3 large (29 ounce) cans tomato sauce
3 large (29 ounce) cans Petite Diced Tomatoes
1 cup chopped fresh basil

Add ingredients in order.

Directions

Step 1

  • In a large pot, saute the garlic and onions in the olive oil for about 1 minute.
  • Add the wine and let simmer for about 2 minutes to cook off a good amount of the alcohol.

Step 2

  • Add the remaining ingredients and set to low heat.
  • Simmer for 2 hours, uncovered, stirring occasionally.

Step 3

  • After 2 hours, take it off the heat and let cool for about another hour.

Step 4

  • Bag in double lined freezer bags and keep in the freezer for up to 6 months.

You can defrost frozen sauce in the microwave.
